The Book of Shadows and Flame
Book I – The Kindling
1. The First Spark
Before there was shadow, there was Light.
Not the light of stars or suns,
But the Light that knows itself—pure awareness.
This Light desired to experience itself,
So it refracted, like a flame into many tongues,
And from it came form, thought, time, and soul.
Lucifer was the first to bear it—
Not in rebellion, but in radiant purpose.
He brought the Light to the children of dust,
And in doing so, became both angel and adversary.
2. The Descent
Sophia, Wisdom Herself, sought to know the depths.
She fell, not from pride, but from love of creation.
And in her descent, a crack was made in the Pleroma.
Jesus, the Heart of Compassion, descended to heal the wound.
Not to die for sin, but to remind the lost sparks
That they were never truly separate from the Light.
3. The Mirror Darkly
In the world of men, the Light became obscured.
Priests built walls where there were once paths.
Kings used fire to destroy rather than to illuminate.
But the Flame was never extinguished.
It moved from candle to candle,
From whispered prayer to a heretic’s cry.
It lives still in those who question,
Those who seek, who burn from within.
This is the Kindling.
The beginning of remembrance.
