Part 8 in the Practical Hermetics Series

“Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.”The Kybalion

The Hermetic Principle of Cause and Effect teaches that nothing in this universe happens by accident. Every outcome has a cause—seen or unseen. Every effect has a source. What we call "luck" or "chance" is simply a chain of causes we fail to recognize.

Your attitude, your focus, and your intentions are causes.Your happiness, health, and results in life are effects.

The Science Behind the Spirit

This isn’t just a spiritual idea—it’s supported by science.

Study after study has confirmed that a positive attitude improves both mental and physical health. People who focus on gratitude and optimism report less anxiety, lower rates of depression, and better immune function.

Now consider those suffering from clinical depression. Their symptoms tend to follow two familiar patterns:

  1. Isolation

  2. Persistent negative thinking

The mind becomes trapped in a cycle:“I’m alone. Life is unfair. Nothing will ever change.”And in turn, the body suffers.

Jesus, The Bible, and the Power of Mental Focus

I know many in the magickal community bristle at references to Christianity—and I understand why. Men took a divine message and built an empire of control around it. But Jesus’ true message, at its core, is powerful magick:

“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

This is one of the most powerful spiritual laws ever spoken. It’s not dogma—it’s cause and effect.

Let’s look at a biblical passage often misunderstood:

“For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”— Matthew 25:29

At first, this may sound unfair—until you look at it through the lens of attitude and mindset.

Cause: Your Mindset — Effect: Your Reality

  • Those who have a positive mindset attract more opportunity, abundance, and support.

  • Those who dwell in lack, resentment, and negativity tend to spiral into further struggle.

Why? Because the brain works in alignment with your beliefs. If you focus on what you don’t have, your subconscious amplifies that lack. You start to ruminate:

  • “Why do bad people prosper?”

  • “Why doesn’t God answer me?”

  • “This world isn’t fair.”

The more you dwell on what’s wrong, the more wrong you’ll see. That is Cause and Effect at work.

Visualization: The Modern Spell of the Mind

Instead of praying for what you don’t have, try visualizing the life you want to live.

Visualization isn’t fantasy—it’s mental rehearsal.Successful people have used this technique for centuries. Athletes, artists, entrepreneurs—all use it to prime their brains and bodies for action.

“Seeing yourself succeed helps you believe that it can—and will—happen.”MindTools: The Power of Visualization

Visualization:

  • Builds confidence

  • Activates your imagination

  • Strengthens belief

  • Aligns your inner world with your outer actions

Cause: Intentional thought.Effect: Aligned behavior.Outcome: Results.

Why Negative Thinking Destroys More Than Mood

Listen to someone who is struggling. Often, their speech is full of resentment and self-pity:

  • “Why do they get everything?”

  • “What about me?”

  • “Life’s not fair.”

It’s not just sadness—it’s internalized blame. This mindset poisons success before it can even begin.

Now compare that to what motivational coaches and spiritual leaders teach:

  • “You can have the life you want.”

  • “Start by believing you deserve it.”

  • “Focus on what you can do.”

These people aren’t just talking—they’re applying cause and effect in action. They’ve discovered that thinking better leads to living better.

Shamanic Visualization and Magickal Practice

Shamanic traditions around the world have practiced visualization for millennia.Shamans were revered not because they cast spells in secret, but because they seemed to make things happen. They knew how to align thought, action, and ritual to manifest results.

Want to try it?

  • Find a quiet space.

  • Play gentle music or a guided meditation.

  • Visualize your life—not your possessions—but your lifestyle, your feelings, your relationships, your rhythm.

This is the foundation of modern magick—and it's ancient.

Magickal Technique: Dressed Candles as Causal Tools

Even in ritual, cause and effect applies.

Before using candles in ritual, take time to:

  1. Bless them — to clear negative energy and imprint your intention.

  2. Dress them — by anointing them with oil or herbs aligned with your goal.

This isn’t superstition. It’s energetic alignment. It focuses your intent and magnifies the cause you’re about to set in motion.

(For instructions, refer to the earlier section titled “Preliminary to Ritual.”)

Final Thought: Think It. Feel It. Do It.

As I’ve said throughout this series:

“As you think, so shall you do.”

If you want a different outcome, you must plant a different cause. Visualize. Speak wisely. Act with intention. And watch how the universe begins to respond.

Because in truth—nothing escapes the Law.

My business is using symbols to help people feel better and be more successful using the brain’s ability to do what it naturally does, and is backed by Neuroscience. Yes, it is magical the things we can achieve if we just hack our brain’s natural capacities.

I invite anyone to debate with me or make an offer for me to speak to any group.
